This post has been in the archive here in my blog for god knows how long. TL;DR: I was away from DC:SS for a few years, I come back and see that the game has been carebear-ized beyond belief.

Carebear = Crappy genetics
"Point I'm making risk adverse people are genetic throw backs who will never make a leap of faith or lift for the occasion. They need to be culled. The softness of western society is clearly being reflected on the Internet. As long as they are spoon fed shit about they are special, some shitty news media to keep them afraid and ignorant and their food regulated these fat useless genetic throw backs live. Sad thing is they are just beasts of burden for the economic beast they serve and coz of media they are fat dumb and stupid."http://shroudunlimited.boards.net/post/4885/thread
Oh my, dodgy totally nailed it here. Something I was not able to say on the SotA forums. Truth is, carebears are genetic thrash. They are not fit for a life of adventure both online and offline. I've never known a carebear who were a cool person in real life. All carebears are boring normalfags and / or socially awkward sperglords who like to stay at home with mom.
I've tried on occasion to do business with such people (making games for android) and it soon became clear those people can't do shit. They are extremely dumb, indecisive, they don't actually crave success or money.
Now, of course there are different types of carebears. I'm talking about the most common type - the 19-29 years old millenial. Carebears are total shit to conduct any business with. The only way to make use of those people is to hire them and pay them,

Why Templar hated EVE Online
Hello everyone! Today I'm gonan tell you why I fockin hated EVE.
I'm not into long ass articles in any of the three languages I speak, so I'll keep it short.
In a MMORPGs, I value immersion the most. The problem with EVE is, that it breaks my immersion at so many levels. The game has a lot of issues, but I'll start with the one I particularly hated:

"SOTA is meant to be a succesor for UO and Ultima. It appears to be the successor to Ultimate Collector"
Quick, appreciate it before it gets deleted. Both this post in particular and the thread in general. It seems that forum members are finally starting to come out of the woodwork and express their opinions on the matter.

Some ranting from SotA forums
It's hard to have NICE THINGS as long as there are people running around with opinions like these.
Sir. (or ma'am). I don't know where are you from, but in my world there are people with lives and jobs who still enjoy PvP and are able to find the time to kill and loot some newbs while being adults with jobs etc.
Another excellent post from kb on SotA and the state of the mmorpg market

All those people who say the time of full loot and open pvp games is gone… Ive said it countless times, they all dont seem to realize..that the more immersion a game provides, the less people ragequit if they get stomped. It is hard to quit when you got your own home you decorated yourself, a guild that cares about you and friends who go to gather mushrooms and reagents with you… and a pet dragon of rare color that took you a month to find and an hour to tame…
games like wow, on the other hand, games that like immersion… they cant hold the player from ragequitting because those games are hollo.… empty..you can only grind there. The pvp is meaningless (if it even has pvp), and the pve is boring.

And here is a good example of what moderators at SotA allow when it comes to Respected Fellow Players describing the PvP players that enjoy non-consensual PvP and i quote -
" I know of (that is of, not personally) MILLIONS who have managed to RP without any form of PvP They came from before a time of Computer RPG's and they existed for a couple of decades AFTER CRPGs were invented....and they still exist today. I will allow that people who wish consensual PvP have a legitimate right to that style, however I will maintain and studies have been done to indicate that those who prefer non consensual PvP are frequently exhibiting sociopathic tendencies....and may in fact need help. Also Anger Management classes may be of use to some of those individuals. " end qoute.

This character named magiK on the SotA forums is allowed to put all these players together and call them sick people. Players that indeed enjoy a risk vs reward game with consequences should seek help cause they just are'nt not well.

One word that isnt allowed over at SotA website is the word Respected Fellow Player. That is a forbidden word to use when describing the PvE players. Ridicolous to say the least. And here is a good example of what moderators at SotA allow when it comes to Respected Fellow Players describing the PvP players that enjoy non-consensual PvP and i quote -

Something that could make PvP viable (for PvE crowd) and add meaning for the PvP crowd is to make full loot on cosmetic items only (with a twist on loot mechanic).
..and the rest of the OP.
No.
There are no ways to make PvP "viable" to someone who is afraid of losing virtual (and nonexistant in the real word) items without gimping it and taking away basic features that make PvP interesting.
There's no bargain here really, no middle ground.
We, the PvPers, are the minority. You wanna take away the sole reason that could make us play sota? What do you give in return? The possibility to loot your tricorne hat and your trousers? No.
Keep your trousers. I want your head.
On the Power of Death
Trough all these years I've learned a few things. The Ultimate RPG aint about killing dragons. Aint about the story, or the quests, or the 55 kinds of shirts a man with a sewing kit can make.
It aint about good, evil, magic, knights or exploring.

Limiting trade is not a viable solution. It breaks immersion.
Making farming IMPOSSIBLE tho is a good solution.
No powerfarming. No solofarming mihty dragons.
You either go solofarm small drakes for a bunch of leather, scales, teeth and a tiny amount of gold or you gather a huge party and go kill the strong monsters.
So. No cookie-cutter builds for PvE.
No powerfarming. Big monsters with big loots should only be handled by a group of players.
This is one of the reasons discussions on here go no where.
Discussions on here go nowhere because there is no need for a discussion.
There are some people with the right idea of how online roleplaying should be handled in a mass multiplayer game.
And others who only care about being safe and happy in their online grinding casual little game.
It's like in real life. Some people like to travel, to discover, to risk. Others don't appreciate this way of life and prefer to stay home no matter what.

I was thinking of something way more sophisticated... why are we so lazy ?
I mean I like you guys ideas... but all your ideas seem to miss the simple fact that the game is big enough to have game masters...
you guys forget about DnD ? how creative a gamemaster should get when faced with behavior problems that do not lead to good roleplay ?

More carebear stuff
Thanks for the clarifications Strider I'm glad you think we might have a similar nerdy past, I'm sorry that I dislike your hidden elitism, I know its not misplaced or ill intentioned but it really goes against a vision we have.
I won't attempt a IRL alegory since we all know it would have varying degrees of implications because IRL has less "tangible" rules than we are expecting out of a well made open PvP system. (we do expect alot of semi-magic rules and hard consequences, not a free-for-all like UO) We know full well that the half programmed UO is all you experienced of it, but the one that exists in our minds still exists even if you deny it.

Good that at least someone is liking my psot. I'd like those people to elaborate more on the forums. Their opinions must be heard.
You know, I've come to the conclusions (and this understanding is not driven by the beers (that I drank today) alone, I swear
) that the ying-yang, dark-light principle is present in everything, even our mmorpgs.
The ca..c-c..c-car-...casual players want a universe of light. Only the Light, only the Ying. But it cant be this way. There must be the dark to balance things out.
Just like in real life real danger balances out the simplicity and abundance of our cool lives in the city, the PvP, stealing, full looting and scamming is absolutely important in a MMO.
You can't farm dragons with no risk forever. There must always be death. Constant movement, cosmic alignment of everlasting principles of which life itself is created.
I'd like to add smething more, but the beer driven mind forces me to go visit the nearest nightclub. So, fare thee well.

Yet another dialogue to prove how stupid carebears are.
I do get it but I have to wonder if you don't get the impact of what you want. It allows other people to impose control on others and puts them in the position that their only choice could be to log off. - bad
Some more rants from SotA's forum
