Limiting trade is not a viable solution. It breaks immersion.
Making farming IMPOSSIBLE tho is a good solution.
No powerfarming. No solofarming mihty dragons.
You either go solofarm small drakes for a bunch of leather, scales, teeth and a tiny amount of gold or you gather a huge party and go kill the strong monsters.
So. No cookie-cutter builds for PvE.
No powerfarming. Big monsters with big loots should only be handled by a group of players.
This will turn off soloplayers and autists who are used to soloing everything in every MMO, but oh well, we don't need this kind of players in a MMO anyways - they can go play Single Player if they want.
Let's not turn MMORPGS into MORPGS please. Let's have at least one game that is MASS MULTIPLAYER, not a mass singleplayer atuism simulator.
A lot? Like how many? A million? Five?
Making the game a paradise for gold farmers will make even more people quit.
Can't you see that? Why do you people always seem to defend the worst kinds of players?
Why does it turn out we suddenly **NEED** gold farmers, autistic soloplayers, paranoid casuals who never leave towns cause they're afraid of getting killed, whiners who wine and scream for nerfs t0 PvP cause thy get pwned all the time and buffs to mining?
Do we really need them?
The type of game we get defines the community we'll eventually get. And the community will define the game and decide its future.
Do we need whiners and paranoid soloplayers to decide what the future of our MMORPG should be? Do we want more Trammel? When exactly does this stop?
Can't you people understand. Niche games don't have tens of millions of players exactly cause they are niche games. No matter how much candy you put into such a game for the casuals you won't get tens of millions of subscribers.
Simply cause this is not farmville. This is not WoW. This is not *random-korean-mmo-with-billions-of-players*. And will never be.
And IT WILL NEVER GOD DAMN BE. Even if you remove all the freaking PvP fr0m the game and make every rat in the sewers drop a billion of gold coins upon death.
Casuals want a weakling's paradise with no responsibility or risk whatsoever. And when they get it, they quit. Because autism isn't really interesting and compelling. Even to the autists themselves.

but the journey to get to the point where gold farmers loose interest - would probably run a lot of people out of the game and with it the success of the game
